This food-focused tour will introduce you the most famous market in Vienna, starting at the State Opera, taking you through Karlsplatz and Secession to finish up in the delicious food market, Naschmarkt. It’s a great tour for foodies who can’t help but be impressed with its multicultural atmosphere and cuisines from around the world. You will find countless colourful food stalls offering specialities like olives, falafel and flat breads, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. Make sure you try and taste the freebies, like Austrian cheese and sweet crepes. During the tour you’ll get the opportunity to roam the market yourself before finishing the tour with “Urban Gardening” a project to incentivise people to grow their own vegetables in the middle of the city. Just 1 ½ hours south of Vienna, Semmering is the former summer resort of Vienna’s upper class. Spend a day in nature and enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding landscape and you’ll know why the wealthy fled to the countryside! Take a cable car up tp Zauberberg where you can enjoy some free time to have lunch or just relax and enjoy the views. On the way back, you can either take the cable car down, or those looking for an adrenaline rush can rent a mountain cart to ride down the mountain themselves! During the tour yow will Learn about the history of Semmering Railway and reach the impressive view of “20-Schilling-Blick” on a little walk. To round off, the last point of the tour is Maria Schutz, a pilgrimage site, where can sample “Krapfen” (a traditional yeast dough dessert filled with apricot jam) before being taken back to central Vienna.
The Hallstatt tour will take you out to Salzkammergut, a region known for its scenic lakes and mountains. First stop is Gmunden, where the well-known Orth castle is located on a small island in Traunsee, before you reach Hallstatt. Hallstatt is a World Heritage town with stunning views over Hallstätter See. On this tour you can learn about the town’s development, its salt deposits and the unique collection of hand-painted skulls, which you can see during a visit to the ossuary. You can also enjoy a short boat ride, after which you have some free time to spend around the town yourself. Finally, the tour concludes with a ride on the funicular Salzbergbahn up to the “Skywalk” platform, from where you can enjoy an impressive view of the lake and town. Before reaching Vienna as the last stop, you’ll stop at Bad Ischl to explore the park surrounding the imperial “Kaiservilla”, the former summer residence of Emperor Franz Joseph.
